Albacete is the most important city of Castilla-La Mancha. Is the regional economic engine, economic and judicial capital of Castilla la Mancha, headquarter of the Superior Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha, which is the highest court of the region.
The writer, novelist, essayist and literary critic Azorín described Albacete as «The New York of La Mancha» in one of his poems.


Regarding communications and access roads its strategic location, midway between Madrid and the Mediterranean coast makes Albacete a communications hub.

The city is included in the network of high-speed trains (AVE) and has the largest railway station in Castilla La Mancha.

At the south end of town is the airport, from which any aircraft can take off and land.

To the north of the city is the exhibitions and conference palace, which is a key to the industrial, tourist and commercial revitalization of the city.

Albacete is located an hour and a half from the seaports of Valencia, Alicante and Cartagena. The rest of cities are at a maximum of seven hours away.


The city of Albacete is considered an average European city, but it is gifted with a quality of life which is unbelievable for a modern industrial metropolis.

With about 180000 inhabitants it is one of the 10 least polluted cities in Europe. It is a safe city, with many green areas, accessible, with education offer at a European level.

Both its public and private health care place Albacete at number 24 worldwide.

Albacete’s quality of life is among the 50 best cities in the international ranking.


With regard to the educational provision and its quality, Albacete is third in the national rankings. The Campus of the University of Castilla-La Mancha in Albacete has eight universities and three higher engineering institutions which are a source of well-trained human resources, making any business venture a reality thanks to their incredibly high levels of qualifications.

The campus is surrounded by a large sports complex which complements the 15 sports centres in the city.

In terms of primary, secondary and other education, there are about one hundred and twenty public and private schools, many of them bilingual, and including a dining service.

Since its beginning, Albacete has been an eminently commercial city, where tourism and gastronomy are intimately linked. Trying food in Albacete is positive proof that the local cuisine is excellent.

About eighteen miles from the city is the Golf Club «Las Pinaillas», one of the best eighteen-hole courses in Spain.

The city has a three and a half kilometres long motorsport circuit, where various national and international competitions are held.

The range of cafes, breweries and pubs in Albacete is extensive, we locals love going out, but especially with friends.

The local cultural activities make Albacete a benchmark for quality in the rest of Spain; museums, the Albacete «Abycine» international film festival,  the international circus festival, literary cycles, art exhibitions, theatre, concerts, sporting events, and especially the «Feria de Albacete». This local festival was declared of international tourist interest, and is held annually from the 7th to the 17th of September.
